Normally called burr oak or ‘cat’s paw’ oak, that just didn’t do it justice, so it has become the ‘Lion’s Paw’ Table!

This British oak, from Carmarthenshire, Wales has been seasoned for years at our local sawmill and is superbly figured with dark swirling grain and burry patterns, like lions’ paw-prints. It is a unique and one-off piece of handmade furniture with great character.
This extraordinary wood inspired Jake to create a classic coffee table design with good strong lines; solid, heavy and a joy to the senses. There is a generous undershelf for hiding away books, magazines and remotes.
The gorgeous finish of the table top has been achieved by Jake applying many layers of Black Bison Wax Polish, using the natural warmth of his hand! This dark and gunky wax… which doesn’t appear to have any actual bison in the ingredients…. is endorsed by the Guild of Master Craftsmen and is well known for its quality and its distinctive, pleasant smell. (To all furniture polish addicts…. it smells divine!) It is traditionally used on antiques but is also suitable for use on modern furniture, enhancing the natural beauty of the wood and protecting it against dryness. It gives a lustrous hard-wearing finish with good resistance to marks and stains.
